Cologne and Aachen

Itinerary

Cologne, the former Roman colony, is one of Germany’s most original cities with its own language, its own mentality and a lot of humor.

 

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival and check in in your hotel in Cologne or the surrounding area.

 

Day 2: Cologne (UNESCO World Heritage)
After breakfast meet with your local guide for a 2 hrs. city tour and walk through the historic centre of Cologne. See the Cathedral and many more places of interest. Afternoon for your own discoveries. Enjoy a 1 hrs panoramic boat trip on the Rhine. In the evening return to your hotel.

 

Day 3: A Day in Aachen – Charlemagne’s Imperial City (UNESCO World Heritage)
Meet your local guide in Aachen and enjoy a walking tour through the city who Charlemagne made the capital of his empire. You will visit the historic centre, the town gate Ponttor and the imperial Cathedral wherein Charlemagne is buried in his palatine chapel. The centre of the Cathedral, Charlemagne’s marble throne, is one of the most venerated monuments in Germany. Aachen is, as can be seen, a city full of history and also a UNESCO World Heritage. Today, however, Aachen is a modern city with its famous university and its brilliant carnival. Afterwards, return to the Cologne area. Dinner and accommodation in your hotel.

 

Day 4: Departure after Breakfast
After breakfast start your homeward journey.
